COSMETIC SURGERY

COSMETIC SURGERY IS SAFE
In most cases, our patients are healthy.
The tissues are not injured either by an accident, or by a tumor.
The patient should undergo a thorough preoperative analysis. To cover every eventuality, the hospital should have a good Internal Medicine service to prepare patients for surgery and postoperative follow-up if necessary.
Cosmetic surgery is a medical procedure that alleviates the distress caused by a negative body image.

COSMETIC SURGERY MUST BE PERFORMED IN QUALIFIED HOSPITALS
Cosmetic surgery should only be performed in hospitals staffed by experts in all medical specialties and by highly qualified plastic surgeons.
The operating rooms must be modern and well equipped, with microscopes, endoscopy, latest generation aspirators, centrifuges and instruments for fat grafting.
Sterilization procedures must be rigorous and must be backed up by a good microbiology service.

FIRST CLASS ANESTHESIA CARE
The anesthetists and anesthesia nurses must be proficient with all the anesthetic equipment and the most up-to-date monitoring systems.
The operating rooms must have a fully equipped complete rehabilitation unit. The patient must  reach the room in excellent condition after surgery with minimal pain and with all vital signs stable.

BREAST COSMETIC SURGERY IS MULTIDISCIPLINARY
Plastic surgeons should not operate a breast without the necessary infrastructure. The hospital must have its own Breast Unit. Breast cosmetic surgery is very gratifying but the mammary gland must be studied thoroughly to check for any abnormalities. Sometimes an ultrasound is required, and so breast reduction requires a good pathology department to analyze the tissue removed.
