ANESTHESIA
Different types of anesthesia can be utilized in Aesthetic Surgery:
- Local anesthesia
-
Local anesthesia and intravenous sedation
-
Loco-regional anesthesia
- General anesthesia
As our patients are healthy and in good general condition, we can match the most suitable anesthesia for each case.
Following preoperative examinations are required: blood test including coagulation test, chest X-ray and electrocardiogram. If any irregularity is detected, we study it thoroughly.
Pharmacologic advances allow utilization of short effect drugs with better patient monitoring.
We prefer to use Midazolam, a minor sedative drug, with short lasting effect, which is not attached to fat tissue, and with an antidote, Anexate, allowing proper patient monitoring. To avoid pain, a part from low toxicity local anesthesia infiltration like Lidocaine, we use a hydrosoluble painkiller like Afentanil which has an antidote as well, Naloxone. Short lasting general anesthesia with larynx mask avoiding oral intubation is provided as well with Propofol.
In all cases, patient is in an operating room, with an anaesthesiologist, cardiac and oxygen saturation monitoring, because although these procedures can be performed as an outpatient we care about patient safety avoiding unnecessary risks.
Risks related to anesthesia are minimized with these preventive measures.
